Neighborhood: Mayfair Nearest Train: Bond Street Phone: +44 20 7499 7070 Fax: +44 20 7495 3262 A rather deceptive name, because the American Bar is very much reminiscent of an English country estate or a 1920's gentleman's club, with lots of dark oak panelling and quality leather seating. The similarities don't stop there, though, as impeccable service comes in the form of smartly dressed butler-style waiters. Despite all this, the atmosphere is relaxed and relatively informal, although customers must dress appropriately (no jeans or trainers). The clientele consists mainly of guests of the Connaught Hotel (in which the bar is located) and business types, although regular Londoners looking to drink in comfort do pass through its doors.
